President George W Bush;
We, the undersigned petitioners, request the complete pardon and release from prison of Kent E. Hovind.
We believe Hovind to be completely innocent of the alleged crime of "tax evasion", and furthermore believe Hovind's 10 year sentence to be patently unjust and based upon an effort to silence his ministry.
In support of Hovind's innocence, we have annexed hereto several memorandums and affidavits.
About Kent Hovind:Kent E. Hovind was born on January 15, 1953, and was saved on February 9, 1969. Hovind was a science teacher for a number of years prior to beginning his ministry, Creation Science Evangelism, in 1989, and opening his theme park, Dinosaur Adventure Land, in 2001.
Hovind is a young earth creationist who believes the KJV Bible to be the literal, inspired, infallible, inerrant word of the living God. His strong position and forthright views on evolution, government, and the public school system has brought him criticism from evolutionists, the mainstream media, and liberal universities. In spite of all the criticism, Hovind has never compromised his views on the truth of God's Word.
In 1974, Hovind received a bachelor's degree in religious education from the Midwestern Baptist College. In 1988 and 1991 respectively, Hovind was awarded a master's degree and doctorate in Christian Education from Patriot University (now Patriot Bible University) in Colorado.
Hovind has been speaking at hundreds of churches, schools, and other venues each year, and has been a featured speaker at many of the Steeling the Mind Bible Conferences. He also hosted a daily radio talk show and established Dinosaur Adventure Land in Pensacola, Florida. Hovind's ministry sells videos, books, fossil replicas and other items that support young earth creationism. None of his video materials are copyrighted, and he encourages people to share them as much as possible!
About the charges brought against Kent Hovind:
The alleged offences of Kent Hovind, for which pardon is sought, are as follows:
1. Willful failure to collect or pay tax. 26 U.S.C. § 7202. Twelve counts.
2. Structuring transactions to evade reporting requirement. 31 U.S.C. § 5324. Forty-five counts.
3. Attempting to interfere with administration of internal revenue laws. 26 U.S.C. § 7212. One count.
Based on these charges, Mr. Hovind was sentenced to ten (10) years in prison, three (3) years on probation, and six hundred thousand dollars ($600,000) in fines.
Although the mention of these alleged crimes may trigger thoughts of guilt, and though judgment has already been pronounced, we firmly believe with absolute certainty that Hovind is completely innocent of the charged offences. We think these sentences are extremely harsh and unjust, especially when considering the nature of the alleged offenses and the proofs of innocence heretofore shown.
We therefore, the undersigned petitioners, in the interest of justice, respectfully request that a pardon be issued to Kent Hovind, pursuant to Article II, § 2 of the United States Constitution and 28 C.F.R. § 1 et seq.
Signed,
